The Law of the Universe

The Tsar wants more, and the President
wants more, and the woman who got a car
in exchange for sex desires a condominium,
and the father wants more gratitude,
and the air is ever hungry to reincorporate
this morning’s dew back into itself,
and the mother requires more of her daughter
to be like her, the current 90% is not enough,
and the sea wants lemmings, and
the air, when it’s done with the dew, wants the sea.
There is never enough. The stars
demand more fire. The void
between the stars is wondering why,
God, can’t there be more dark?
